Since the beginning of its activity, the CTL Maczki-Bór has been participating in the implementation of tasks involving railway transportation. Having its own railway infrastructure, engines and cars, the company gained considerable experience in the implementation of railway transportation tasks, mainly in the Upper Silesian Industrial Region, for mining, energy industry, and construction industry.
The liberalization of the Polish railway market and the admittance of the CTL Maczki-Bór as a member of the CTL Logistics Group enable the company to offer its customers the services of supra-regional and international level. Railway transportation became the key element of the development of the company in correlation with the rest of its potential. Therefore, this activity has become separated and is executed by the CTL Train Sp. z o.o transportation company established for this purpose. In the above-mentioned field, the company has the ISO 9001:2000 and the ISO 14001:2004 quality system certificates, and the SQAS issued by the DET NORSKE VERITAS company.
The basic aim of the CTL Train is organizing and executing railway transportation tasks in cooperation with the CTL Maczki-Bór and other entities belonging to the CTL Group. An important part of the offer of the CTL Maczki-Bór is, therefore, the organization and correlation of the railway transportation for customers in the executed contracts Additionally, the company, through having specialized rolling stock adapted to transporting aggregates, is able to offer any partner favourable conditions of cooperation in this segment of the market.
The important activity of the CTL Maczki-Bór is a comprehensive service of railway sidings in the possession of other companies. This activity is based on a full takeover of the customer’s logistics connected with reloading and forwarding goods, involving optimal technical potential, hiring the crew, and organizing work within a railway siding.
Taking over the entire service of the railway siding of a particular enterprise enables the customer to concentrate on its basic production aims, and the CTL Maczki-Bór more efficiently organizes for the customer the railway logistic tasks and maintains the optimal infrastructure in this field.
The comprehensive nature of the service also includes the execution of all statutory obligations (formal and legal ones) concerning the ownership of a railway siding by the company towards the Railway Transportation Office and the Act on the railway transportation.
In terms of the service activity, the company has professional repair facilities and specialized personnel maintaining the optimal technical condition of engines, providing emergency repairs, and organizing specialist trainings in the field of locomotive maintenance.
The extension of the offer of the company in this field is, apart from the repair service, an option of field emergency repairs. The CTL Maczki-Bór has in this field the ISO 9001:2001 and the ISO 14001 quality system certificates issued by the PCBC and accredited by the IQNet.

The infrastructure of the CTL has the connections with the Polish Railway Lines and numerous points of contact with the tracks belonging to other railway operators and the proprietors of the sidings. These connections run through the following cities and communes of
the Silesian province: Sosnowiec, Jaworzno, Mysłowice, Bieruń, Imielin, Katowice, Chorzów, Ruda Śląska, and Zabrze. The regulations and price list for sharing the CTL railway tracks is also attached in an electronic version in the form of downloadable files.
The traditional activity of the CTL Maczki-Bór is mining and processing quartz filling sand for the production of commercial concrete and mortars, and also in road construction and earthwork engineering.
We own an open-pit sand mine, which we have been incessantly exploiting since 1952, on the basis of the state mining license. In this field, we have professional technical accessories – also to purify the sand. During its activity, the company extracted and transported over 500 million tons of sand. The sales of this product are correlated with railway and road transportation. The CTL Maczki-Bór has in the above-mentioned field, the ISO 9001:2009 quality system certificate as well as the ISO 14001:2005 environment management system certificate, issued by the Polskie Centrum Badań i Certyfikacji SA [Polish Center for Testing and Certification] and accredited by the IQNET.
This natural (unprocessed) product is used as a filling material for post-exploitation voids in coal mines. It is generated as a result of the exploitation of own sand deposit.
The scope of properties of the filling materials and their usability in specific mining conditions are regulated by the branch norm – filling materials according to the PN-93/G-11010.
This natural, unprocessed product is used as an aggregate for the construction of roads, streets, and other thoroughfares. It is generated as a result of a selective exploitation of own sand deposit. The scope of properties of the filling materials and their usability in specific building conditions are regulated by the norm – aggregates for bitumen mixes surface fixers used in roads, airports, and other surfaces designed for traffic according the PN-EN 13043:2004.
CTL Maczki-Bór S.A. offer also includes all types of sand in natural form occurring in the deposit, which undergoes no selection or purification processes. Because of its use, it is a non-standardized aggregate, mainly for earthwork construction, land rehabilitation, land macro-levelling, and soil exchange during the construction of underground installations (pipelines, fundaments, etc.). It constitutes a perfect filling or bedding material of general use in earthworks.
The consequence of the open-pit mining by the CTL Maczki-Bór is mining pits and the duty to rehabilitate them. The existing potential created after exploited deposits allow the collection and adaptation of non-hazardous waste, mainly post-mining, accompanying the extraction and processing of coal. Due to this, the company, as a part of the organized logistic connection with mines, adapts the waste, using it for the rehabilitation of own post-sand pits. The CTL Maczki-Bór has been performing this activity for 30 years, and till the present day over 85 million m3 of the waste have been transported, mainly by train, and adapted. In terms of the recovery of all authorized secondary materials used for land rehabilitation, the company is in possession of suitable permissions and administrative decisions. Within this activity, the company performs the adaptation of non-hazardous materials only.
This group includes waste generated as a by-product of extraction and processing of coal – shale and spoils, waste from processing and enriching coal, waste from the flotation of coal, and waste from the extraction of other minerals, including crushed rocks.
This group includes waste generated as a by-product of the combustion of coal in the energy industry – ashes and cinders.
This group mainly includes waste generated as a by-product of construction works, demolition works, or earthwork engineering – concrete waste, brick debris, soil and rocks from the soil exchange.
